Mithila Makhana — fox nuts grown in the wetlands of North Bihar — has been a part of Mithila's food culture for generations, prized for its lightness, versatility, and place in festive and everyday eating alike. Maithil is bringing this same regional food tradition into a modern, pre-packaged format, sourced directly from the growing communities of Bihar, the same spirit of authenticity that runs through Maithil's textile and art collections.

Sourcing from Bihar
Maithil's makhana is being sourced directly from farming and processing communities in the Mithila region of Bihar, where makhana cultivation has long been a traditional livelihood. As with Maithil's artisan textile work, the intent is to build a direct, transparent link between the source community and the end customer.
